SheFest presents: A Beautiful Way to be Crazy (plus support from Lucy Huzzard and Kira Craig)

Fri 13 Mar 2020 - 7:30 pm

A tale of growing up and finding a voice from poet Genevieve Carver and her multi-instrumental live band, based on interviews with women across the music industry.

Based on interviews with women in the music industry, A Beautiful Way to Be Crazy is a tale of growing up and finding a voice.

Weaving together poetry, storytelling, live music, audio clips from the interviews, and some genuine teenage diary entries, Genevieve Carver and her multi-instrumental live band The Unsung (Ruth Nicholson, Tim Knowles and Brian Bestall) explore what it means to be a girl in the business of music.

Expect to meet the spirits of Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone and Delia Derbyshire as Genevieve navigates her way through school bullies, the pressures of mainstream media, anxiety and pregnancy scares, but comes out smiling.

“Arguably one of the most powerful voices of the Fringe” – EdFringe Review

“Carver exudes a warm humility that perfectly complements the fragile and overwhelmingly human spirit at the heart of her storytelling” – The Reviews Hub

"Brilliant, verging on genius" - The Wee Review
