Daniel Blythe EXILES launch
Thu 14 Nov 2019 - 7:00 pm
Sheffield author Daniel Blythe's tenth novel, a dark and gritty Young Adult sci-fi mystery, Exiles, is having its Sheffield launch at Kommune.
Written over a three-year period, Exiles is the story of a group of fifty teenage criminals living together in a penal colony called The Edge. Victims of Earth's harsh regime, they have been sent to live out their lives on this wilderness world with its cruel, unpredictable climate. Into their midst comes new arrival Beth Kane, a refugee from the stars in a battered escape pod. But is she telling the truth about what has brought her there? What is the mysterious Chapter of Continual Progress? And as the community faces sabotage, intrigue and then murder, who can be trusted? Exiles is a story of young people adrift in the Universe, finding out what it means to be alive when everything you once relied on begins to collapse. It is the first book in a trilogy exploring a future humanity's relationship with its fragile society.
After a great introduction by the sea at FantastiCon 2019, the book is now having its 'urban launch' - a chance to meet Daniel and his publishers Fantastic Books. Daniel will be giving an audio-visual presentation about his 20-year writing career, including his contributions to the Doctor Who books, and the genesis of the new trilogy. He will also be taking questions and giving a reading. Books will be available for sale and Daniel will be happy to sign copies. Badges and postcards on offer too! Free to attend.
